Our correspondents document each location with the seriousness it deserves, which is total. Every entry includes coordinates, visiting hours, and at least one quote from a retired local, because that is what documentation means.

Each location carries a Reality Index, our proprietary confidence measurement. It is certified by the Bureau of Confidence, whose methodology is proprietary, whose offices are unstaffed, and whose findings are final. A score of 94% means a place almost certainly exists. A score of 8% means it was probably created after midnight. We encourage readers not to think about this too hard, as we have not.

If you attempt to visit one of our destinations and cannot find it, the most likely explanations are: seasonal closure, county road renumbering, or the attraction being slightly further from the highway than remembered. We accept correction letters by mail only.
