County Mile 0 Demonstration Post
Rooke Junction, Kentucky · Infrastructure · est.
The County Mile 0 Demonstration Post is a 26-foot roadside survey marker and interpretive turnout maintained, according to the signboard, by the Rooke Junction Fiscal Court Road Naming Subcommittee. It appears to have been installed to explain how county road mileage was recalibrated in the early 1980s after a new bypass changed several address ranges, though the marker itself is oversized enough to suggest a tourism rationale was discovered later. The main hook is a bolted aluminum dial at the base that lets visitors align historic and current mile numbering systems side by side. A locked brochure box was present on the last report, but empty, and the pull-off has room for only six cars if everyone parks carefully.
