The lane wraps the sanctuary under a shallow metal canopy, passes a menu-board-style hymn display, and exits past a speaker post from which communion was administered by intercom between 1978 and 1994. The intercom practice ended by unanimous vote of the elders, recorded in minutes that state the motion, the count, and nothing else. The lane remains striped, the arrows were repainted as recently as last spring, and the speaker post stands under a fitted canvas cover, which suggests continued maintenance of something formally discontinued. Whom to ask about the vote is not obvious; the elders named on the sign are, by now, presumably emeritus.
