Hollis Brake Queue Rail

Several hundred feet of galvanized handrail arranged into switchbacks as if for a crowd that never arrived make up the Rural Queue Rail at the edge of Hollis Brake, beside a farm-supply co-op and a paved lot with more striping than traffic, as a permanent outdoor demonstration of pedestrian line-control hardware maintained by the Hollis Brake Commercial Corridor Committee. It consists of several hundred feet of galvanized handrail arranged into switchbacks as if for a crowd that never arrived. It was reportedly installed after a 1998 retail access study tied fair-week congestion to poor customer queuing at the seasonal peanut grading counter, though the exact public-private ownership arrangement remains unclear from the sign.
