Corn Arbitration Monument
A 31-foot bronze ear of corn commemorating the 1948 Platte Hollow Corn Arbitration, which ended a two-year dispute between rival grain cooperatives over moisture deductions. It is believed to be the only monument in Nebraska, and possibly anywhere, dedicated to a successful binding arbitration.
Emergency Backup Lighthouse
A 68-foot lighthouse built to full Coast Guard specification on a low rise outside Loup Fork, approximately 900 miles from the nearest ocean. Constructed in 1954 with federal civil defense funds after a paperwork classification proved impossible to amend, it is inspected, cleaned, and ceremonially lit each October to preserve its official readiness status.
The Last Hose Tower in Colfax County
The last hose-drying tower in Colfax County stands behind the Prosser Bend fire hall, retired from drying in 1965 and converted into a museum of fire hose that same year, largely because demolishing it was quoted at more than keeping it. It houses hoses from nine decades, displayed vertically, the way the tower prefers.
